“We need to be there for each other, especially in times like these,” he said. “We need to recognize where we come from, and use that to fuel positivity in our neighborhoods. We need to stop creating more victims and start creating more victory.”
The Rocket Summit encapsulated the shift in dialogue we need to have regarding gun violence, from focusing on the act itself to honing in on prevention, intervention, and support for survivors. It emphasized that a crucial part of the solution is rooted in community action, breaking the cycle of violence through investment in prevention programs and genuine support for survivors.
The Summit wasn’t just a call to action—it’s a commitment in itself. By launching it, Quavo and the Rocket Foundation have put a stake in the ground, showing up for Atlanta, and for the communities across the country that continue to grapple with violence.
While the Rocket Summit may be an Atlanta endeavor, its message and mission resonate far beyond Georgia’s state lines. This isn’t exclusive to one city or one state, but a universal call to “Change The Game.” The conversations sparked at the summit have ignited an energy that has the potential to uplift communities nationwide.
Despite the somber undertone of the event, there were moments of joy, unity, and pride throughout the day. Music, laughter, and camaraderie radiated through the hallways of the College Football Hall of Fame. There were captivating performances, delicious food, and enriching conversations.
Looking around the room, one could see the beauty in the collective resilience—a testament to Quavo’s intent, Atlanta’s spirit, and the human capacity to heal.
As the Rocket Summit wrapped up, one thing was clear: this was just the start. The foundation’s name says it all—a Rocket soars upwards defying gravity, and so too, will our communities. We must continue to uplift the silenced voices, advocate for policy changes and most importantly, be there for each other.
In Quavo’s own words, “The real work starts when the cameras stop rolling. It starts with us.”
Stay tuned for more updates on the Rocket Foundation’s journey. And remember, together, we can Change The Game.
